The Asheville Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) is a 47- year-old organization that serves five counties in Western North Carolina and includes public, private and home-schooled students. Over sixty students playing string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments practice weekly during the school year and showcase their talents in four annual performances.

Since its inception, the orchestra has graduated over a thousand students, 25% of which have gone on to study music in colleges, universities and conservatories. Many dozens have pursued professional careers in music.

The Youth Orchestra concerts are free and open to the public. Please join us in supporting these wonderfully talented young people. The Youth Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the ASO and is supported in part by the Buncombe County and Asheville City School Systems, but also depends on private and corporate donations.
