Welcome to the Asheville Symphony’s 52nd Season!

We have hit our stride. The Asheville Symphony is attracting such a diverse group of music lovers from all over Western North Carolina, and it is getting harder to find a good seat! That is why I want to invite you to join us for the entire fifty-second season of the ASO as a subscriber. I truly feel that this will be our best season ever.

With the combination of classics that you love, new works that will lift you, fantastic guest artists who are making major waves in the music world today, and our own superb musicians of the Asheville Symphony, we have the recipe for an entire season of exciting concerts. We want you to take part. From Mozart’s poignant Requiem testament to Berlioz’s brilliantly mad Symphonie Fantastique, we will play some of the most beautiful and invigorating scores from yesterday and today.

We have established a tradition of presenting guest artists on the cusp of greatness, and with this season’s luminaries, we are able to present virtuosos who are captivating artists as well as brilliant musical personalities. Joyce Yang, Valentina Lisitsa, and Daniil Trifonov are already internationally-known pianists in demand across the globe. Our opening night artist, violinist Chee-Yun, has a flair and a beauty all her own, and she’ll play the colorful Symphonie Espagnole to launch our season.

Join us in March as we honor Asheville’s own Bob Moog and his contribution to the musical world with a special performance of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. American maverick violinist Tim Fain joins in the celebration. We’ll also commemorate the infamous (and riotous) 1913 premiere of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring with a full performance in May to celebrate a season of scintillating musical experiences.

Don’t forget to join us on Friday afternoons at UNCA’s Reuter Center for Symphony Talk. You can also get an exclusive inside story of our guest artists one hour before the downbeat on Saturday nights. The musicians of the ASO and I are inspired by your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to great music. Thank you for making music a vital part of your life.

Come with us as we discover new worlds.
