Music Director Fund

Our Music Director and Conductor, Daniel Meyer, will conclude his 12-year tenure with the ASO in the 2017-18 season, during which he will conduct the season-opening concert featuring Beethoven’s Emperor concerto with world-renowned pianist Yefim Bronfman and a special New Year’s Eve celebration performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana on December 31, 2017.

Daniel has led our symphony through a period of unmatched artistic growth in his continuing commitment to the rich arts life of Asheville. Thanks to Daniel’s leadership, the ASO has expanded its audience and reach, supports a biennial Asheville Amadeus festival, executes a thriving education and community engagement program, and has gained a national reputation for its artistic initiatives. Most of all, he has excited our community to rally around its orchestra. Daniel leaves a legacy on which our next Music Director and Conductor will be able to build.

The Asheville Symphony has created a Music Director Fund to honor the tradition of professional excellence and the legacy of outstanding performances Daniel has created at the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. The Music Director Fund will help sponsor Daniel’s final concerts, provide support for the transition to a new music director, and be the basis of a discretionary fund for the next music director.

We believe by sponsoring his final concerts and ensuring his successor has appropriate tools and resources to begin their tenure, we are honoring the tradition of distinction Daniel has created. We invite you to pay tribute to him in this very special manner.
