A Conversation on the Violin

Musicologist and Associate Dean at Oberlin Conservatory Christopher Jenkins hosts a Conversation on the Violin. In this one-hour lecture, Dr. Jenkins will explore the history and evolution of the violin as a globally influential instrument, its use in solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble settings, its legacy in the standard orchestral repertoire, and more. Dr. Jenkins’ alma maters include Harvard University, Columbia University, New England Conservatory, and the Manhattan School of Music, and he is currently earning a DMA in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a PhD in musicology from Case Western Reserve University, where his work focuses on African-American musical aesthetics.
